Yes. According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency they produce electricity with less environmental impact than almost any other source of electricity.

What impact do EfW facilities have on greenhouse gases?

EfW facilities reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Life-cycle studies have shown that EfW reduces the equivalent of one ton of carbon dioxide for every one ton of trash it processes.
